Relationship between bronchial asthma and COVID-19 infection in adults: clinical and laboratory assessment

Abstract Background Asthma is still considered a major chronic respiratory disease that affects large number in the world. The association between COVID-19 infection and asthma was studied different ways focusing on hospital-admitted patients. This study aimed to assess outcome of patients with and/or COVID adults attending outpatient pulmonary clinic over three successive months from clinical laboratory point view. Patients methods current retrospective observational involving 898 Saudi Arabian private hospital 1st December 2020 end February 2021. were divided into groups: group 1—COVID-19 infected (312); 2—COVID-19 no (286); 3—COVID-19 non-infected (300). Results conclusions showed best patient’s seen asthmatic without followed by patient infection. There significant statistical difference eosinophil count COVID-19-infected asthma. Also, it shown most common cause hospitalization pneumonia gastroenteritis not an exacerbation.
